FAQs

About the HeartSine Samaritan PAD 500P

The PAD500P A semi-automatic defibrillator that is operated by using two buttons. It features clear and simple voice prompts for users, with visual prompts to assist the rescuer in noisy or multi-lingual environments.

In addition, the 500P features unique patient specific CPR feedback which instructs the user to push harder, faster, slower or reassures you that you’re doing it right.

This patented ICG technology has been correlated to a host of physiological parameters that have been recorded and tested during actual CPR applied to real cardiac arrest victims. This helps to provide the rescuer with simple instructions to maintain good, effective CPR – increasing the chance of saving a life and reducing the risk of neurological damage.

Do I need an AED machine?

According to the UK Resuscitation Council, a leading professional body and charity focussing on resuscitation education and research

“All businesses and organisations will undertake a first aid needs assessment to determine the level of first aid provision within their workplace as a part of their responsibilities to protect the safety of their workforce and visitors. As an organisation or company it is a legal requirement to take precautions to reduce foreseeable risks, to document this and be able to present it to the HSE if requested. As part of this assessment it is quite appropriate to consider the risk of a cardiac arrest occurring in the workplace and investing in automated external defibrillators (AED).”

Do I need to be trained to use it?

Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are designed to be used by members of the public, and are very effective at guiding the operator through the process of administering the shock. They have become widely available, are safe and easy to use, and will not allow a shock to be given to a victim who does not require one.

We can provide your colleagues with awareness training, onsite at your premises, to ensure they are aware of the machine and confident to use it.

All Ofqual regulated Emergency First Aid at Work and First Aid at Work courses include defibrillator training as part of their syllabus.
